Brewers teammates Christian Yelich, Mike Moustakas on historic home run pace

Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

Christian Yelich and Mike Moustakas both left the yard Sunday to help the Milwaukee Brewers defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Yelich hit his MLB-leading 24th home run in the sixth inning, breaking through with the first run of the game for the Brewers.

Moustakas, two innings later, put Milwaukee ahead for good with this two-run blast.

With the two home runs in Milwaukee’s 66th game this season, Yelich and Moustakas joined some elite company.

As noted by Stats By Stats, the duo became just the third in MLB history to reach 20-plus home runs in as many or fewer games — the other two being Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth (NYY, 1927 and 1930) and Raul Ibanez and Ryan Howard (Phi, 2009).

Home runs are coming in bunches around the league, in general. However, what Yelich and Moustakas are doing right now is something special.
