It’s incredibly moving to see so many professional athletes responding to the needs of their communities during the coronavirus pandemic. On Wednesday, David O’Brien of The Athletic shared that Atlanta Braves star Freddie Freeman is the latest to do so.
Freeman pledged $125,000 to Atlanta-based charities to help combat the growing threat of COVID-19, matching Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan with $50,000 donations to the Atlanta Community Food Bank and Giving Kitchen, along with contributing $25,000 to the Salvation Army.
This follows some extraordinary generosity from NFL players like J.J. Watt and Russell Wilson, who, along with their wives, pledged to donate 1 million meals to their respective communities by donating to Houston and Seattle food banks.
