Brandon Jennings to sign with Charlotte Hornets

Brandon Jennings

Brandon Jennings is reportedly headed to Charlotte. Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy broke the news to reporters this morning after speaking with Jennings’ agent.

Jennings was waived by the New York Knicks this morning after a disappointing season coming off the bench. Currently averaging 12.5 points and 7.2 assists per 36 minutes on 38 percent shooting from the field, Jennings will likely be an upgrade over Ramon Sessions.

Sessions, while backing up Kemba Walker this year has a 12.2 PER and a 42.0 effective field goal percentage.

Jennings can certainly improve on that, but regarding him as anything other than an average back-up is misguided at this point. The point guard struggled in New York this season and his production has dropped significantly since an Achilles tear two seasons ago.
