Brad Stevens updates Gordon Hayward progress, reiterates ‘it’s a long road’

Gordon Hayward is necessarily taking the What About Bob baby steps road to recovery after his devastating leg injury at the beginning of the 2017-18 season.

The Boston Celtics guard has been able to do some exciting things on his road to recovery (like this). Head coach Brad Stevens filled the media in a little more on his progress Tuesday.

Stevens noted Hayward has been able to do “some spot shooting — very, very light” and that the recovery is “a long road.” Stevens also said the team hasn’t yet broached the subject of when Hayward might be able to start traveling with the Celtics.

So, obviously, things are still moving very slowly right now.

A while back Hayward’s agent said he didn’t think the guard would be able to play at all this year. He was recently spotted wearing an ankle brace, and he is progressing, but it sure seems like Hayward won’t make it into a competitive situation until next season.
