Manny Pacquiao has taken aim at Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s claim as boxing’s greatest of all time during a recent appearance on Inside The Ring, a show produced by The Ring and aired on DAZN. Pacquiao addressed Mayweather’s unbeaten record and challenged the idea that it makes him unique in the sport’s history.

The comments quickly drew attention, as the rivalry between the two boxing icons remains one of the most talked-about in modern boxing. Their 2015 fight ended with a unanimous decision win for Mayweather, but discussions about legacy have continued. Pacquiao used the interview to explain his views and highlight his career achievements.

Manny Pacquiao questions Floyd Mayweather’s undefeated record

Manny Pacquiao directly addressed Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s long-standing claim as the greatest. He said the unbeaten record does not make Mayweather the only one in boxing history to achieve that feat.

“He’s a self-proclaimed GOAT,” Pacquiao said. “Self-proclaiming GOAT, because he cannot say… he can’t even claim in which part that he can claim that he is the only? He cannot claim to be the only undefeated fighter to retire. There are a lot of fighters, at least more than 15 fighters, who have retired undefeated.”

Pacquiao’s comments focused on historical facts. Several fighters across different eras have ended their careers without a loss. Mayweather retired with a 50-0 record, but Pacquiao made it clear that this alone does not set him apart as the only fighter to do so. The statement reflects how different achievements are weighed when comparing fighters from different generations.

Pacquiao highlights eight-division and four-decade achievement

After questioning Mayweather’s record, Pacquiao pointed to his own career milestones. His achievements include titles across multiple weight classes and success over a long period.

“But I can claim with some of those? The only eight-division [world champion] and the only fighter who became a world champion in four different decades,” he said.

Pacquiao’s career began in the 1990s and continued through the 2000s, 2010s, and into the 2020s. During that time, he won world titles from flyweight to welterweight. This range of success remains rare in modern boxing. His ability to compete at a high level across different weight classes and time periods stands as one of his defining achievements.

The interview also showed that Pacquiao still reflects on his past with Mayweather. “I respect what he did,” he said, “but let’s be honest about history.”

Their 2015 fight remains a key moment in boxing. Mayweather won by unanimous decision in a bout that drew global attention. Since then, both fighters have remained active in different ways. Pacquiao has made selective returns to the ring, while Mayweather has taken part in exhibition bouts.

Pacquiao’s comments on Inside The Ring add another chapter to the long-running discussion about greatness in boxing. His statements focus on measurable achievements and career milestones. The debate over who stands as the greatest continues, with both fighters’ records often compared in detail.
