While many boxing fans would love to see hated rivals Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney take part in a rematch, the former’s promoter apparently has no interest.

A year after a devastating knockout loss to Gervonta Davis, Garcia had a career-changing moment when he scored an upset win over Haney. Or so we thought. Soon after his exhilarating decision win in April 2024, it was revealed that “King Ry” had tested positive for a performance enhancer. The victory was quickly turned into a no-contest and wiped from his resume.

After serving a lengthy suspension, Garcia returned to action in May 2025 and was on the wrong end of an upset setback to Rolando Romero. The loss dashed any interest in a rematch with the welterweight champion. However, Garcia’s career took another sharp turn last month when he scored a decisive win over Mario Barrios.

His stellar performance generated renewed interest in a potential rematch with Haney for his WBO title. However, one person who couldn’t care less about the two running it back is Garcia’s promoter, Oscar De La Hoya.

During a “fact or cap” segment with Inside Boxing co-host Dan Canobbio, De La Hoya was asked if Garcia would fight Haney again, and the boxing legend’s response was “cap.”

When Canobbio offered a wide-eyed look of surprise and asked, “It’s not gonna happen?” the Golden Boy boss answered back with, “Not under my watch. He destroyed him.”

In their 2024 scrap, Garcia floored Haney three times. Once in the seventh round, again in the 10th round, and then one last time in the 11th round. De La Hoya’s response will surprise many boxing fans. Especially since it takes a winnable fight with an elite fighter off the table for Ryan Garcia in 2026.
