There isn’t a hotter team in MLB right now than the New York Mets, and Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora is hoping his team can make the same kind of run.
Speaking to members of the media on Monday, Cora explained why he is drawing inspiration from the Mets:
“You look around the league and what’s happening, at Citi Field [with the Mets], you win 14 out of 15, it happens,” Cora said, per Ian Browne of MLB.com. “We know what we have to do the rest of the season. We can do it, but it starts here in Cleveland.”
Boston has been languishing all season long. The Red Sox head into Monday night’s game against the Cleveland Indians 16.5 games out of first place in the American League East, and 7.5 games out of a wild-card spot.
Needless to say, the Red Sox absolutely need to go on a run of wins if they are going to get back to the playoffs and defend their World Series title in 2019.
