Portland Trail Blazers sharpshooter Joe Ingles underwent successful knee surgery on Wednesday and is expected to make a full recovery.
The team said that Dr. Brian Cole at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush in Munster, Ind., performed the anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery on Ingles’ left knee.
Ingles, 34, suffered the injury Jan. 30 when he was still a member of the Utah Jazz. Portland acquired Ingles from Utah on Feb. 9.
The injury occurred in a game against Minnesota when Ingles’ left knee buckled as he drove to the basket. The 6-foot-8 Ingles was averaging 7.2 points, 3.5 assists and 2.9 rebounds in 24.9 minutes per game. Ingles left the Jazz as their all-time 3-point leader, with 1,071 made.
Ingles was dealt to Portland as part of the trade that sent guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker from Portland to Utah. Juancho Hernangomez was also dealt from San Antonio to the Jazz.
