Buffalo Bills wide receiver Cole Beasley issued an emotionally charged statement on racial injustice in America on Wednesday.

Cole Beasley ’embarrassed’ he ‘failed black people’

Beasley shared a passionate statement on his Twitter account Wednesday while announcing a new rap album.

“Too long…For far too long in my life I have looked the other way,” Beasley wrote. “As a father of three biracial kids and someone who loves to rap I’m embarrassed really. Growing up as a white kid, I never had to go through the hardships that black people endure every day in this country.”

The 31-year-old also wrote, “I have been wrong for a long time. I have remained ignorant as much as it kills me to say. Not only have I failed black people but I have failed my sons and daughter up to this point, by turning the other way.”

Here’s the entire statement from Beasley, in full:

Beasley signed with the Buffalo Bills in free agency last season and had one of his best seasons as a pro. Putting up consistent stats, he caught 67 passes for 778 yards and a career-high six touchdown passes.
