Buffalo Bills All-Pro cornerback Tre’Davious White will begin training camp on the physically unable to perform list, coach Sean McDermott said Sunday.

White sustained a torn ACL in the second quarter of the Bills’ 31-6 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Nov. 25.

“He looks really good,” McDermott said. “He’s working his tail off. Tre is a consummate pro, so that has not changed. We’re just excited to get him back when we can get him back.”

White was an All-Pro selection in 2019. He recorded 41 tackles, an interception and six passes defensed in 11 games in 2021.

The Bills selected White in the first round (No. 27 overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. The 27-year-old has played in 72 games (all starts) for Buffalo and has 279 tackles, 16 interceptions, three sacks, five forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries in his career.

McDermott also said guard Ike Boettger (Achilles) and defensive tackle Eli Ankou (undisclosed injury) will be on the PUP list, and guard Rodger Saffold will be placed on the non-football injury list after injuring his ribs in a car accident.

“We’re always concerned for the guys off the field,” McDermott said of Saffold. “And obviously anyone involved in that accident, the same. But we feel confident that he’ll be back in due time.”

The Bills begin the regular season Sept. 8 on the road against the Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams.
