Following a stirring performance in a surprising Week 3 win over Minnesota, Buffalo Bills rookie signal caller Josh Allen put up one of the worst quarterback performances we’ve seen in a long time.
It came this past Sunday in Green Bay and tells us a story of a rookie that just doesn’t have the necessary help to succeed.
In Buffalo’s 22-0 loss to the Packers, Allen completed 16-of-33 passes for 151 yards with two interceptions. He was sacked a total of seven times, ending up with 87 net passing yards on 40 dropbacks.
Now through his first 3.5 games as a starter, Allen is on pace to be sacked more than any quarterback in a given season in NFL history.
In 3.5 games, Josh Allen has been sacked 18 times.
David Carr was sacked an NFL-record 76 times his rookie year.

In hindsight, trading one of their most-proven offensive lineman last week might not have been a great idea.
This was always going to be a problem for the Bills. Once they decided to move on from Nathan Peterman halfway through Week 1, there had to be concern that Allen would struggle.
The hope here is that what we see this season doesn’t break Allen. Remember, when David Carr was sacked 76 times for the then-expansion Texans back in 2002, it broke him.
He never morphed into the franchise quarterback Houston had hoped, throwing 59 touchdowns compared to 66 interceptions in parts of six seasons as the team’s starter.
