Bill O’Brien: Will Fuller injury not season-ending

Will Fuller

The Houston Texans got some good news as it relates to the broken collarbone suffered by receiver Will Fuller on Wednesday.

Speaking to media Thursday, head coach Bill O’Brien said Fuller will be back to play this season.

As the team’s first-round pick out of Notre Dame last season, Fuller did not disappoint. He was utilized heavily as a deep threat, catching 47 passes for 635 yards and two touchdowns as the secondary target in the passing game behind DeAndre Hopkins.

While Fuller remains sidelines, we expect to see Jaelen Strong and Braxton Miller to be featured heavily. Miller is expected to take on a much bigger role in his second year after slowly adapting to the pro game last year, anyway. Now he’ll be counted on all the more to fill the void left by his second-year teammate.

So maybe in the end, if Fuller returns strong and the Texans can win games to open the season, his injury will be a blessing in disguise.
