Bill Belichick won’t even get excited about Red Sox in World Series

Bill Belichick is a man of few words. And if you thought the Boston Red Sox reaching the World Series might prompt more, you’d be sorely mistaken.

Ben Volin of the Boston Globe shared the transcript of the New England Patriots coach talking about the American League champions. It’s not exactly glowing.

No congratulations, no encouraging words. At least he offered a happy birthday to first-year Red Sox manager Alex Cora.

Belichick covered his metaphorical bases, mentioning the team’s ability to pitch, hit, run and play defense — in other words, be baseball players.

In fairness, it’s a fitting approach from the five-time Super Bowl-winning coach. During the run to NFL championships in 2014 and 2016, the Patriots’ motto was “Do your job.”

Belichick won’t say anything to the baseball club, but his speech would surely be the same: Hey, Red Sox. Do your job.
