Bill Belichick mind games: Pats coach had thermometers placed in Jets tunnel

NFL free agency, Bill Belichick and the Patriots are in a prime position heading into free agency with Jimmy Garoppolo in their back pocket.

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick never passes up an opportunity to engage in mental warfare with his opponent. In fact, he’s been known to use everything at his disposal — even to the point of breaking rules — to get a leg up on the competition.

So it’s hardly surprising that Belichick is said to have ordered the field crew at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough to place thermometers in the tunnel the Jets walk out of onto the field.

As you can see, the temperature is hovering just above five degrees Fahrenheit, which is frigid. It’s so cold out on the field that Tom Brady was seen warming up in what appears to be a legit scuba suit under his uniform.

Though, Belichick is taking his mind games to another level here, as you’re about to see.

New England needs a win Sunday to clinch the top seed in the AFC. If the Pats do beat the Jets, which they should, then the AFC playoffs will run through Foxborough, where it’s darn hard to win in the month of January.
