Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins did not practice Thursday during the portion open to the media.

Higgins is nursing a hamstring injury that reportedly was discovered during Wednesday’s workouts.

While Higgins’ availability for this weekend remains in limbo, fellow wideout Ja’Marr Chase appeared to take a step in the right direction after participating in individual drills on Thursday. Chase injured his back following a hard fall during Sunday night’s 24-18 victory over the Buffalo Bills.

Tyler Boyd would be in line for a larger role for the Bengals (5-3) if either Chase or Higgins were unable to play Sunday against the visiting Houston Texans (4-4).

Complicating matters is that Cincinnati has a short week following the game against Houston. The Bengals will visit the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, Nov. 16.

Chase, 23, leads the team in catches (64), receiving yards (697) and receiving touchdowns (four) in eight games this season. The No. 5 overall pick in 2021 had four receptions for 41 yards in Cincinnati’s victory over Buffalo.

Higgins, 24, had eight catches for a season-high 110 yards versus the Bills. He has 27 catches for 328 yards and two touchdowns in seven games this season.

Boyd, 29, has 36 catches for 300 yards and two touchdowns in eight games this season.
