The Cincinnati Bengals are one of the teams that met with embattled former Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon in the lead up to the 2017 NFL Draft. So it should not come as too much of a surprise that the team picked Mixon up in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft on Friday night.

Mixon, an extremely talented two-year starter with the Sooners, fell out of favor among NFL teams after a video surfaced late last year of him punching a woman at a bar. While the video itself was from all the way back in 2014, it led to speculation that Mixon himself would go undrafted.

Obviously, that’s not the case.

Instead, Cincinnati exhausted a second-round pick on the talented running back. This is sure to raise a ton of eyebrows within the NFL, especially with the type of characters Cincinnati currently has on its roster. We don’t really need to look much further than Vontaze Burfict and Adam Jones to point that out.

On the field, Mixon joins a running back group that includes former top-round picks Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard. It remains to be seen how he will fit in as a rookie. Here’s to hoping that running back keeps it clean off the field. Everyone deserves a second chance, and he got his on Friday.
