With an eye towards upgrading a running attack that was one of the NFL’s worst in 2018, the Philadelphia Eagles have acquired running back Jordan Howard in a trade with the Chicago Bears.

The Eagles announced the move on Thursday evening.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the Eagles are sending a sixth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft for Howard.

Reports had indicated that Chicago was shopping Howard this offseason. So, this was not unexpected.

If Howard can be at his best, he’ll definitely aid the Eagles, who had one of the worst rushing attacks in the league in 2018.

Howard’s tenure in Chicago had some good moments, but was inconsistent. In 2018, he rushed for 935 yards and averaged 3.7 yards a carry (both career lows). He did, however, tie a career high with nine touchdowns.

Over the 2016 and 2017 seasons combined, Howard eclipsed 2,400 yards with 15 touchdowns.
