According to Jon Heyman and multiple reports, former major league pitcher and manager Dallas Green has passed away.
Green played eight seasons across three teams from 1960-1967 and finished with a 20-22 record with a 4.26 ERA. He also served as a manager for the Phillies, Yankees, and Mets. He was the skipper with the Phillies when the team won their first World Series in 1980. He also served an executive adviser with the team
Green’s granddaughter was tragically killed by a gunman in 2011 “who opened fire at an Arizona congresswoman’s event,” according to ESPN.
In 1983, Green was elected into the Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame and had family members still working in baseball.
Green was 82 years old.
