The Denver Broncos had their meeting with President Barack Obama on Monday in what will be the 44th President’s final meeting with a Super Bowl champ.
Per Ron Clements of the Sporting News, the POTUS had some fun with Super Bowl MVP Von Miller and recently retired quarterback Peyton Manning.
He joked that Miller is a “geek” who “prides himself on his collection of eye glasses.”
Obama then turned his attention to Manning, calling him “the guy from the commercials,” adding that “you basically can stack your whole household with stuff this guy is selling.” That last statement might actually be true.
This is one of the final meetings that Obama will have with a champion. Whether he or the next president visits the NBA and NHL champion will depend largely on when those teams visit Washington next season.
Obama has also yet to meet with the Kansas City Royals but unless the 2016 champion is a local team like the Washington Nationals, it’s unlikely that he’ll host their visit before the new president is inaugurated in January.
One thing is certain. Brock Osweiler has to be kicking himself for missing out on such top notch banter.
