Many words can be used to explain why the Baltimore Orioles have been so darn bad over the last two seasons. But this play perfectly encapsulates it.
The Orioles were in a jam. The Cleveland Indians had loaded the bases with only one out and Jason Kipnis at the plate. Fortunately for Baltimore, Kipnis hit a potential double play ball. Unfortunately, the Orioles are, well…the Orioles.
We can watch a day’s worth of bad Little League teams and probably not see a double play botched that badly.
That is not good. The infield being drawn in may have made turning a traditional double play a little challenging. But how Baltimore didn’t manage to record an out at the plate (or anywhere, for that matter) is simply baffling.
