Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray is as talented as they come, but he has some humongous shoes to fill taking over for Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield, who was also the No. 1 pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.

But the man he’s replacing (if he wins the starting job this year) has complete faith in Murray.

He’s going to break all my records,” Mayfield said recently of his projected successor, per Bleacher Report’s Matt Hayes. “He’s that good.”

Murray is also a top MLB prospect who will likely be a high pick Monday night. He will have a better chance of playing professionally if he pursues baseball, but he’s going to keep a promise to Oklahoma and play football for the Sooners, regardless.

Head coach Lincoln Riley recently addressed this, saying, “I knew the deal when we were getting into it. [They have] lived up to their word in every part of it,” said Riley, per ESPN, adding that Murray has committed to skipping summer baseball to compete on the football field.

Murray has yet to win the starting job, as Riley continues to monitor the battle between the two-sport star and sophomore Austin Kendall. Safe to say, however, that Mayfield might have an inside scoop as to who will win out in the end.
