Babe Ruth Items to be Auctioned in Baltimore This Weekend

This is a pretty cool story for those of us who collect memorabilia. According to the Associated Press, the Sports Legends Museum in Baltimore, Maryland, will auction off about three dozen Babe Ruth-related items on Saturday night.

One of those items, the contract Ruth signed with the Boston Red Sox in 1918, is already up to $370,000 in online bidding. The auction will also boast the first homer that Ruth hit at Yankee Stadium.

If you have a few hundred thousand dollars sitting around under the sofa cushion, maybe go take a trip to Baltimore and bid on these items. After all, possessing Ruth’s first home-run ball is a darn good conversation starter.

Now if only we could get our hands on the first bottle of bourbon he drank. That would be pure gold.
