Austin Dillon will be reunited with crew chief Justin Alexander on the Richard Childress Racing No. 3 team starting this weekend at Martinsville Speedway.
This is the third time that Dillon will be paired with Alexander following stints in 2017-18 and 2020-22. Dillon has four victories at the Cup Series level and all have come with Alexander calling the shots. Alexander replaces Keith Rodden.
Rodden will move into a ‘leadership, coordination and support’ role within Richard Childress Racing. Rodden was first paired with Dillon last season but is 28th so far in 2024 without a top-10 finish or lap led.
Additionally, Joel Keller has been appointed the lead engineer on the No. 3.
“The organizational changes were made to help Richard Childress Racing’s overall NASCAR Cup Series program as we prepare for the rest of the season and locking two teams into the NASCAR Playoffs,” said Andy Petree, executive vice president for RCR. “Justin Alexander and Austin Dillon share a unique chemistry that has proven effective in the past. We want to thank Keith Rodden for his leadership of the No. 3 team and know that the contributions he will continue to make to RCR in his new role will be valuable across the organization.”
