As a tribute to the greatest player of his generation, the Atlanta Hawks announced Thursday that the black mamba snake at the Atlanta Zoo has been renamed “Kobe” in honor of Kobe Bryant.

Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers are visiting Atlanta on Friday in what will be Bryant’s final game against the Hawks.
The Lakers are currently suffering through a miserable campaign with a record of 3-15, and Bryant is struggling through his worst season as a professional, on pace for the worst shooting season in 55 years.
However, a bright spot for the five-time NBA champ and the Lakers has been the outpouring of support throughout the NBA since the announcement of his impending retirement.
It’s going to be hard to top this one. Kudos to the Atlanta Zoo and the Hawks for making it happen.
