Atlanta United goalkeeper Brad Guzan is out 10-12 weeks with a torn MCL in his left knee, the club announced Tuesday.

The 38-year-old captain and former U.S. Men’s National Team mainstay was injured during Saturday night’s 1-1 draw at New York City FC.

He will be sidelined until at least mid-July.

It is the second straight year that Guzan has sustained a major injury. A ruptured Achilles tendon limited him to just seven starts in 2022.

Guzan has recorded 73 clean sheets in 226 MLS matches with Chivas USA (2005-08) and Atlanta (2017-present). He was the 2007 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year before leaving MLS for the English Premier League.

He also earned 64 caps with the USMNT and was on the rosters for the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups.

Atlanta United will turn to veterans Quentin Westberg and Clement Diop to handle goalie duties during Guzan’s extended absence.
