Atlanta Hawks signing Lou Williams to 1-year, $5M deal

The Atlanta Hawks are re-signing veteran guard Lou Williams to a one-year, $5 million deal, Yahoo Sports and The Athletic reported Thursday.

The 34-year-old free agent arrived in a March 25 trade with the Los Angeles Clippers and averaged 10.0 points, 3.4 assists and 2.1 rebounds in 24 games (one start) with the Hawks.

He posted 7.7 points, 2.2 assists and 15.4 minutes in 18 playoff games (two starts) as Atlanta reached the Eastern Conference finals.

A three-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year, Williams has averaged 14.3 points and 3.5 assists in 1,067 career games (122 starts) with the Philadelphia 76ers (2005-12), Hawks (2012-14, 2021), Toronto Raptors (2014-15), Los Angeles Lakers (2015-17), Houston Rockets (2017) and Clippers (2017-21).
