Atlanta Hawks’ Dejounte Murray suspended for Game 5 of NBA Playoffs

The NBA Playoffs are all about the stars. Yet, we’ve already seen former Defensive Player of the Year Draymond Green suspended for one game due to his on-court actions, and now, we’re seeing another with Dejounte Murray suspended one game due to his off-court actions.

Following the Atlanta Hawks’ Game 4 loss to the Boston Celtics, Murray reportedly bumped into referee Gediminas Petraitis as he tried to leave the court. Murray then turned around and proceeded to point and yell at someone before heading back to the locker room. His actions would draw an NBA investigation, which, according to the NBA’s communications team, merits a one-game suspension.

Murray will miss a crucial Game 5 matchup against the Celtics as the Hawks head back on the road with Boston leading the series 3-1.

While the Golden State Warriors managed to win without their defensive stalwart, now the Hawks will try and do the same as they face elimination in a hostile environment at the TD Garden on Tuesday night.

Murray averaged 20.5 points per game, chipping in 6.1 assists and 5.3 rebounds per contest during the regular season.
