Atlanta Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in August 2013, and his court date has been set.
Per Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the 2014-15 NBA Coach of the Year is due in Fulton County State Court on July 29.
Budenholzer could be subject to a variety of penalties, Vivlamore writes:
“Budenholzer faces up to a year in jail, as much as a $1,000 fine, a driver’s license suspension and community services for a first-time offense. He would also face a suspension from the NBA, likely two games as those received by current Bucks coach Jason Kidd and former player Devin Ebanks.”
The statute of limitations was set to expire in three months.
In addition to Kidd and Ebanks’ suspensions Vivlamore mentioned, Phoenix Suns reserve P.J. Tucker received a three-game ban for “super extreme” DUI last summer, per the Associated Press, via ESPN.
