Is Todd Gurley healthy? In a media conference on Thursday morning, Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter chimed in with his thoughts.

And oh, boy. This is going to set a lot of people off in a bad way.

Koetter: Nobody seems to know if Todd Gurley is healthy

Gurley has struggled to stay healthy for the past couple of seasons. Reportedly, he has chronic arthritis in his knees. That’s a really, really bad thing for an NFL running back.

Speaking about his new player, Koetter admitted “no one seems to know” if Gurley is healthy.

Then Koetter doubled down on that notion, saying, “We’ll find out his health after he gets here.”

That’s a whole lot of cold water on the notion that Gurley is ready to rumble in 2020. Based on the tone of Koetter’s comments, he seems to be bracing for the worst, rather than preparing for Gurley’s best.

Once the most dangerous running back in the league, Gurley averaged just 3.8 yards per carry last year. The Los Angeles Rams stunningly released him despite still owing more than $20 million. This will be a fascinating story to follow whenever the NFL starts back up again — likely this summer.
