The Houston Astros placed outfielder Chas McCormick on the 10-day injured list Tuesday due to lower back tightness.

The move is retroactive to Saturday. The team recalled infielder Rylan Bannon from Triple-A Sugar Land in a corresponding move.

McCormick, who turns 28 Wednesday, is in his third season with Houston. He was batting .275 with two home runs, nine RBIs and four stolen bases in 11 games so far. He had four steals in each of his two previous seasons.

Bannon, who turns 27 Saturday, made his major league debut last season in four games for the Baltimore Orioles and one for the Atlanta Braves. He had two hits in 14 at-bats.
