Following a scary collision that injured Los Angeles Angels catcher Jonathan Lucroy, Houston Astros outfielder Jake Marisnick has been suspended two games by MLB for his part in the violent collision.

The play occurred on July 7, when Marisnick tried to score on a fly out and launched himself into Lucroy, who was away from the plate. After careful review, MLB’s chief baseball officer Joe Torre determined Marisnick’s initiated contacted violated rule 6.01(i) in MLB’s rule book.

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred spoke about the specific collision and the specific rule in place to protect catchers from dangerous hits during the All-Star Break and now the league seems to be sending a clear message with the suspension.

Lucroy is currently without a timetable to return after being diagnosed with a fractured nose and a concussion.
