Astros activate All-Star Carlos Correa off disabled list

After spending more than a month on the disabled list with a back injury, All-Star shortstop Carlos Correa will be back in the Houston Astros lineup on Friday.

The 23-year-old shortstop, who was originally placed on the 10-day disabled list on June 28, will return to man his spot at shortstop and provided immediate help for a lineup that needs it.

Houston is currently without All-Star second baseman Jose Altuve and fellow All-Star outfielder George Springer, both of whom are on the disabled list.

Correa will return to an .832 OPS, .352 OBP, 49 RBI and 13 home runs in 73 games this season. He provides the Astros with a needed MVP-caliber bat in their lineup and should provide steady defense at shortstop for Houston’s pitchers.
