WATCH: A’s get lucky on crazy play at home against Red Sox

Oakland Athletics pitcher Mike Fiers was in a pinch against the Boston Red Sox Wednesday and appeared to be getting deeper into trouble. He had the bases loaded with only one out in the bottom of the second inning and then threw a wild pitch.

Red Sox third baseman Michael Chavis pounced on the opportunity, running to home from third base. Only, instead of putting his team up on the scoreboard, a crazy bounce off the backstop led to an easy out for A’s catcher Josh Phegley.

Check out this wild play.

The A’s have been the beneficiaries of some really crazy plays this year, including the wildest double play you’re ever going to see.

This out led to Boston finishing the inning still tied, 1-1.
