The Oakland Athletics acquired outfielder JJ Bleday from the Miami Marlins on Saturday in exchange for left-hander A.J. Puk.

Bleday, 25, made his major league debut in 2022, batting .167 with five home runs and 16 RBIs in 65 games for Miami. The Vanderbilt product was a first-round draft pick (fourth overall) by the Marlins in 2019.

Puk, 27, had a breakout season in 2022, going 4-3 with a 3.12 ERA in a career-best 62 relief appearances for the A’s. In parts of three seasons for Oakland, Puk was 6-6 with a 3.56 ERA in 84 relief appearances.

Puk also is a former first-round draft pick, getting selected No. 6 overall by the A’s in 2016 out of Florida.
