Former Army football offensive tackle Brett Toth signed with the Philadelphia Eagles this past week.

It’s no small thing. A second lieutenant in the United States Army, Toth had military obligations to complete before he could even think about playing in the NFL.

That changed when President Trump offered him a waiver, enabling Toth to fulfill his dream of playing in the NFL.

In talking to reporters after signing with Philadelphia, Toth largely credited Mr. Trump for jumpstarting his NFL career.

“First and foremost, it couldn’t have been done without President Trump, making the initiative to send athletes to professional sports,” Toth told reporters ahea of his first practice on Sunday, via Mike Kaye of NJ.com. “It’s going to be a huge advertising tool for the Army.”

The president has made it a goal of his to help student-athletes at the major military colleges test the professional sports waters before continuing their military careers. Toth is just the latest example of this.

Toth has not played organized football since the 2018 Senior Bowl. While he did sign a three-year contract, the youngster faces an uphill climb to earn a spot on the Eagles’ 53-man roster.

At the very least, President Trump is helping him attempt to make that dream come true.
