For many of us, the events of September 11th, 2001, seem like they happened just yesterday. But for a generation of college football players, memories of that horrific day are faint. And in 2021, there will be some suiting up for the annual Army-Navy game that were not even born when the terrorists struck the World Trade Center, Pentagon and that field in Pennsylvania.

Even then, the two military academies have decided on playing near the site of the old World Trade Center on the 20th anniversary of the attack that killed nearly 3,000 people.

Much like on previous anniversaries of the terrorist attack, we can expect a ton of tributes around the sports world. With this game being played between two military schools and just 10 miles from the World Trade Center site, it’s going to be something to behold.

The game itself will be played on December 11th, making it just three months removed from the two-decade anniversary. We’re pretty sure other tributes will be revealed between now and the time the 2021 season kicks off. But this is going to be as amazing and emotional as any.
