Antonio Brown found himself in the headlines for all the wrong reasons this past NFL season. The former Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots star receiver is now seemingly ready to turn a new leaf and aim for redemption.
Brown, who is trying to work his way back into the NFL, tweeted a realization on Friday. The former All-Pro receiver seemingly realized hypocrisy between his words and actions. Now, the 31-year-old is prepared to take responsibility for his actions.
Brown’s former general manager Kevin Colbert expressed concern for Brown’s well-being at the NFL Combine and offered any support Brown needed for the Steelers.
While it’s not known if Brown followed through on that offer, steps like this are certainly what the Steelers and other NFL teams like to see.
The Steelers traded Brown to the Oakland Raiders last offseason, but his stay in Oakland was brief. The Raiders cut him before the season for a series of unprofessional behavior and a scuffle with teammates. Brown then signed with the Patriots, but was released weeks later when the NFL launched an investigation into sexual assault allegations against him.
Brown went through another stretch of issues following his release by New England, including an arrest in January for battery.
Let’s hope that Brown has finally turned a corner and is ready to redeem himself. If he can do that and avoid any trouble, the road back to an NFL return is much clearer.
