Things are heating up in the NHL this week with the trade deadline arriving Friday at 3 p.m. ET.
Rumors are swirling and a small handful of trades have happened already.

8:29 p.m. — Jason Zucker held out of Coyotes lineup
Jason Zucker will not play for the Arizona Coyotes when they host the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday.
The forward, who can be an unrestricted free agent at season’s end, is being held out of the lineup for “trade-related reasons.”
Zucker has nine goals in 51 games this season but scored 27 with the Pittsburgh Penguins last season. The 32-year-old forward has had at least 20 goals five times in in the NHL.
The Coyotes are expected to be sellers ahead of the deadline since they’re well out of playoff contention in the Western Conference. Defenseman Matt Dumba is the other prime candidate to be dealt by Arizona.
6:48 pm — Anthony Mantha traded to Golden Knights by Capitals
When the Vegas Golden Knights moved captain Mark Stone to LTIR, it opened up plenty of possibilities — and salary cap space — to make a move up front. They made that move Tuesday, acquiring forward Anthony Mantha from the Washington Capitals for a pair of draft picks.
According to SportsNet’s Elliotte Friedman, Washington retained 50 percent of Mantha’s $5.7 million salary. Mantha can be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
The 29-year-old is on pace for the best season of his NHL career. He has 20 goals and 34 points in 56 games, his third 20-goal season.
With Stone out, Mantha can play anywhere in the top three lines. He adds to Vegas’ depth and becomes their third 20-goal scorer, with Jack Eichel, fresh off an LTIR stint himself, right there at 19.
Vegas, which has lost three in a row and sits third in the Pacific Division, has approximately $4.4 million to spend by Friday.
6:41 pm– Alex Wennberg held out of Kraken lineup again
Seattle Kraken center Alex Wennberg is a healthy scratch for the second straight game — this time against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday — as general manager Ron Francis mulls trade offers.
The 29-year-old has been linked to several teams, including the Colorado Avalanche, New York Rangers and Boston Bruins. He has nine goals and 25 assists in the final season of his contract with Seattle.
It’s believed the Rangers, if not others, need a third party to take on part of Wennberg’s contract to facilitate a trade.
The Kraken are seven points out of the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference and could also consider trading right wing Jordan Eberle and defenseman Justin Schultz, who are also pending UFAs.

4:45 pm — Jake Guentzel to Vancouver? Elias Lindholm to Boston?
Forward Elias Lindholm’s time in Vancouver could be shorter than anticipated.
A report from The Athletic‘s Chris Johnston states the Canucks have had discussions with the Pittsburgh Penguins about forward Jake Guentzel, an impending UFA and arguably the biggest name on the trade front.
Doing so, though, would likely cost Lindholm, whom the Canucks acquired in February from the Calgary Flames. But Lindholm wouldn’t be going to the Steel City, but rather Boston and the Bruins.
It appears early in those discussions, but anything is possible this time of the year.
Guentzel is currently injured but has started skating in a non-contact jersey for the Penguins. The 29-year-old has 22 goals and 52 points in 50 games for Pittsburgh this season. He’s one of the best postseason performers in the game, with 34 goals in 52 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, and has won two Stanley Cup championships.
Lindholm, meanwhile, is off to an uninspiring start in Vancouver with just four goals and six points in 14 games. The Canucks spent big on Lindholm, sending forward Andrei Kuzmenko, defenseman Hunter Brzustewicz, and Joni Jurmo, a 2024 first-round pick, and a conditional fourth-round pick to Calgary last month.
12:30 p.m. — Devils GM ‘not shopping’ Tyler Toffoli, but seeking goalie
New Jersey Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald met with the media one day after firing Lindy Ruff as coach and said how the team fares in its next two games — Tuesday against the Florida Panthers and Thursday against the St. Louis Blues — will help determine his plan of action before the trade deadline.
The Devils enter play Tuesday eight points out of the second wild card in the Eastern Conference.
Fitzgerald also confirmed what’s been fairly obvious, that the Devils “goaltending has not been good enough” and that “I’m in the market (for a goalie).” New Jersey has been linked for weeks to Flames goalie Jacob Markstrom. And more recently it’s been rumored that Bruins goalie Linus Ullmark could be on their radar this summer if the Devils fail to acquire a goalie before the deadline.
In addition, the Devils are “not shopping” pending UFA Tyler Toffoli, Fitzgerald said. But he didn’t rule out a trade if a contract extension is not in place by Friday.
