Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis suffered a scary-looking back injury on Tuesday and is “still very sore,” but he may be available Friday against the Dallas Mavericks.

As bad as the injury looked initially, the good news is that Davis’ MRI came back clean, and he’s obviously on the right track to return sooner, rather than later.

The 26-year-old superstar has appeared in 35 games for the Lakers this season, averaging 27.1 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 2.6 blocks and 1.5 steals per game. Interestingly, he recently turned down a lucrative long-term extension from the Lakers.
