The Los Angeles Angels placed catcher Max Stassi on the injured list Tuesday night.

The team did not provide an injury designation for Stassi, but reports indicate that the move is related to COVID-19. The Angels promoted catcher Austin Romine to take Stassi’s spot on the roster.

Stassi, 31, is hitting .200 (13-for-65) with three homers and eight RBIs in 19 games.

In 320 career games, Stassi has hit .223 with 35 homers and 106 RBIs.

Romine, 33, last appeared in the big leagues in 2021 and batted .217 in 38 games with the Chicago Cubs. He has appeared in 433 career games with the New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers and Chicago, tallying 28 homers and 157 RBIs while hitting .238.

Also on Tuesday, Angels infielder David Fletcher had a procedure on both of his adductors. Fletcher, who was placed on the injured list Sunday, could miss a couple months but is expected to return this season.

Fletcher is batting .158 with two RBIs in 14 games this season.
