Three-time Grand Slam champion Angelique Kerber announced over social media Wednesday that she will miss the upcoming U.S. Open as well as the next few months on tour.

Her reason? Well, the 34-year-old German gave several clues in a social media post that included a baby bottle and hearts.

“I really wanted to play the US Open but eventually I decided that two against one just isn’t a fair competition,” Kerber wrote on Twitter. “For the next months, I will take a break from traveling the globe as a tennis player but then again, I believe it’s for the best possible reason.”

Kerber is a former World No. 1 player who is currently ranked 52nd overall.

She won the title at Flushing Meadows in 2016 as well as the Australian Open that year. She won at Wimbledon in 2018.

“Being a professional athlete means everything to me but I’m grateful for the new path I’m heading to,” Kerber wrote. “To be honest, I’m nervous and excited at the same time.”

Play in the main draw of the U.S. Open begins Monday.
