Andy Reid chastises Tamba Hali for social media outburst

Far too often, social media gets professional athletes in trouble. For instance, Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Tamba Hali is in a bit of hot water after he blasted his team on Twitter on Saturday.

Head coach Andy Reid was not thrilled and has since called out Hali.

“We don’t want him to do it through the social media part and all that,” Reid said at Monday’s news conference, per the team’s official website. “Let’s just talk about it.

“If you have a problem, let’s talk about it.”

Through the emergence of technology, the art of face-to-face discussions has faded somewhat. It is all too easy to throw words out there that cannot be taken back, and now ill-conceived messages are being seen in real time.

Hali, 33, was a first-round pick by the Chiefs in 2006. He made it abundantly clear that he was not happy with the limited snap count he received in the playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers this past January.

Hali played in all 16 regular season games in 2017. But he received just two starts. During that time he tallied 3.5 sacks, one fumble recovery and a total of 34 combined tackles.

It is likely that he and Reid will be having a private conversation regarding social media do’s and don’ts.
