Warriors announce Andre Iguodala No. 9 jersey will be retired

The Warriors are reportedly offering Andre Iguodala $13-$15 million per season.

On Sunday, the Golden State Warriors officially announced the Andre Iguodala trade to Memphis, along with an announcement that his jersey will officially be retired.

Warriors CEO Joe Lacob wrote that “We thank Andre for all his contributions and look forward to seeing his number in the rafters at Chase Center.”

It’s a bit more of a definitive “we’re retiring his number” statement from Lacob than what he wrote about Kevin Durant last week.

This statement is also noteworthy because it comes not long after Iguodala shed some light on what could be viewed as the dark underbelly of Golden State’s internal issues.

Iguodala was a key member of the Warriors teams that won three championships, and his timely production in critical moments will be difficult to replicate. Over his six years with Golden State, he averaged 7.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.
