We recently learned about Amazon Prime’s plans to mimic NBC’s Peacock by being the exclusive host of a live NFL playoff game in 2025. Peacock boldly pulled off the move during the 2023 playoffs, and it led to the most-streamed live event in U.S. history. Now, Amazon’s getting in on the fun, but as you can imagine, it wasn’t cheap.

Amazon Prime Video paying $120 million to host one NFL playoff game in 2025
According to Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports, Amazon is paying the NFL roughly $120 million for the rights to host an NFL Wild Card playoff matchup in 2025.
It sets a new record after NBC reportedly paid $110 million to host what ended up being the Miami Dolphins vs Kansas City Chiefs matchup last year.
One research company estimates that Peacock benefited from 2.8 million new subscribers who signed up for access to the AFC Wild Card matchup. That again set a record as the single biggest subscriber event ever measured.
If Prime Video can repeat the same success, everyone involved at Amazon will call their NFL partnership a massive success.
