NBA Hall-of-Famer Allen Iverson has a lot of love for the Philadelphia 76ers organization but is frustrated at the fact that the franchise does not try and make use of his knowledge and experience to help them win their first championship since 1983.

While he did not bring the city home an NBA title during his legendary career, Allen Iverson is arguably the greatest player in franchise history. The 17-year NBA veteran is second all-time in points, free throws, minutes, and steals for the legendary team.

Throughout the league’s history, especially over the last decade, there have been many franchises that have brought in team greats to take on various roles to make use of their expertise to better the team. However, it seems the 76ers have not done so with Iverson.

In a recent conversation with veteran NBA reporter Rachel Nichols, “The Answer” revealed his frustration with his current situation with the organization and called for Philadelphia to take advantage of his desire to help the franchise he loves.

“My role there is nowhere near what I think it’s supposed to be,” Iverson said. “I love Philadelphia so much and I love that organization for everything they did for me. They made me a household name. … Besides what I did for them when I was playing, I want to still give them more of what I have.”

Iverson reiterated that he doesn’t want to be a coach, so when asked what he would like his role to be, he explained that he would relish the chance to be an advisor to players and help them in any way a league and Philadelphia legend like him could.

“It would be multiple things,” he said about a potential role. “Obviously, talk to players and be there for them if they want to talk to me about anything. I want to be there for any type of advice I can give. If they needed my help with anything that Allen Iverson can do that’s what I want to do.

“You know, I get emotional talking about it because I thought I should have been doing this. I look at other teams and I see former players, you know, they’re just around. Just anything I have as a basketball savant, use me.”

The Philadelphia 76ers icon was inducted into the basketball Hall-of-Fame in 2016.
