Alex Rodriguez has experienced what it’s like to suffer the consequences in MLB for cheating. As the former New York Yankees star now looks at the Houston Astros players getting away with cheating to win a World Series championship, he made it clear they deserve what’s coming to them.

During ESPN’s broadcast, Rodriguez called out the Astros for not showing any remorse after getting caught for cheating the game in 2017 and 2018. While the cheating itself was certainly bad, Rodriguez said the unwillingness of players to offer an authentic apology is far worse than the cheating itself.

Rodriguez highlighted his 211-game suspension for his use of performance-enhancing drugs. While it dramatically hurt his reputation and hurt him financially, Rodriguez admitted that he also deserved it.

It’s a unique perspective to hear from a player who did cheat and went through a similar process of being one of the most hated faces in baseball. Whereas Rodriguez eventually owned up to his wrongful behaviors, the Astros continue to fall short in that area.

Given the hostility players still have towards Astros’ players for not being disciplined, it’s no surprise that the Astros are expected to get drilled quite often this season. The way Rodriguez sees it, a view likely shared by other players and fans, the Astros deserve what’s coming to them.
