Now that Heisman runner-up Tua Tagovailoa is locked in as Alabama’s starting quarterback for at least next season, former starter Jalen Hurts is looking to transfer from the Crimson Tide.

According to Barton Simmons of 247 Sports, Hurts is now in the NCAA’s transfer portal — meaning that he is at least considering transferring.

Depending on where he goes, Hurts would likely have to sit out the 2019 season. That’s better than collecting dust on Bama’s sideline.

Set to enter his senior season, the 6-foot-2 Hurts has tallied 71 total touchdowns and 12 interceptions in three seasons with the Crimson Tide.

Hurts was the team’s full-time starter in 2016 before being benched in favor of Tua back in 2017. He responded by leading Alabama to a comeback win over Georgia in the 2018 National Championship Game, but was forced to take a back seat to Tagovailoa this past season.

Needless to say, Hurts wants his opportunity to shine. Who can blame him?
