Tua Tagovailoa was obviously not fully healed up from ankle surgery on Saturday as Alabama took on LSU, and it’s not surprising he is “a little sore” afterward.
Head coach Nick Saban spoke with reporters Monday and gave an update on the status of Tagovailoa’s surgically repaired ankle.
“He’s a little sore, as to be expected,” Saban said, per 247 Sports. “We did all the medical research that you could do on him to find out if he did any damage or hurt himself in any way, shape or form, and he did not. So, we’ll manage the soreness, may give him a day off today and sort of start him back tomorrow a little bit. So, we’ll just have to manage it day-to-day, and he should respond each and every week.”
Now here’s the best part, as Saban finished by saying, “the situation that he’s in is very much expected, and he doesn’t have any further issues.”
Saban also said he thought Tagovailoa “was at 100%” Saturday, but based on the fact the quarterback was clearly limping around at times we’d strongly disagree with that statement.
That being said, the doctors cleared Tagovailoa to play, and despite a couple of uncharacteristic turnovers, he ended up having a phenomenal game passing for 418 yards and four touchdowns.
Next up for Tagovailoa and the Crimson Tide is a date with Mississippi State on Saturday, and we fully expect them to get back on track with a win.
