Alabama confirms Tua Tagovailoa will undergo hip surgery

Tua Tagovailoa will undergo hip surgery on Monday, Alabama announced Sunday, one day after he went down in agony against Mississippi State.

Tagovailoa was injured late in the second quarter of Saturday’s game. He rolled to his left, threw the ball away and as he did, had two defenders fall onto him. His right knee was still bent, and as it hit the ground his right hip was dislocated.

Reports emerged that Tagovailoa suffered a hip fracture, along with a dislocation, that would require surgery. The good news is that the team has said since yesterday evening that Tagovailoa is expected to make a full recovery.

A Heisman candidate this year prior to his injury, Tagovailoa finishes his season with 2,840 yards passing, along with 33 touchdowns and just three interceptions.
