Agent: Matthew Stafford does not want Lions to trade him

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

There was some scuttlebutt around the league that Matthew Stafford might want out of Detroit, but the Lions quarterback has refuted the trade talk through his agent, Tom Condon.

Michael Silver of NFL Network reported Friday morning that “some GMs and coaches around the league believe Stafford is the one who wants the Lions to move him.”

Then in the evening, Silver shared that Condon “conclusively” told him that “Stafford does not want out of Detroit.”

The Lions have made it clear that Stafford isn’t going anywhere.

Even still, there was reason to believe things might not be so simple due to the simple fact that Stafford’s wife recently ripped into the Lions and hinted at a trade to the Los Angeles Chargers.

It’s also just the time of year. With everyone around the NFL huddled up into one spot for the NFL Scouting Combine, lying season is in full effect.

But the people who matter in this conversation have at the least presented a united front. Stafford appears to be staying in Detroit.
